All about working with a coach

I often get a call from someone who is interested in exploring the world of coaching and possibly considering becoming a coach. Some are looking to explore themselves. Some are looking for a second career. Some want to add another facet to their credentials. Some are working full time and want the flexibility of a course that can fit in with their work schedules. Some are on a break and want an in-person course, to use the time to hone their skills.

Whatever the reason that may bring a person to the doorstep of looking for a good coaching course, they all have a few similar questions…. “What are some of the good coach training courses available?” followed by “Are they online or in person and how long do they take to complete?” then some want to know “How much do they cost approximately” and “What is the difference between one course and the other, any pros and cons?”. I have tried my best with the limited information that I have gathered on my journey so far, to answer them. Then it struck me, I could crowdsource some of these answers.

I went to my trusted WhatsApp groups, knocked on the door of Chat GPT and spoke to some of the coaches I know. The wisdom of crowds is well known to be a powerful way to navigate the world, so basis all of these inputs, I offer you the CoachUps guide to the galaxy of Coach Training Institutes.

The list is presented in alphabetical order and is a compilation of inputs from various sources. It is not an exhaustive list and readers are advised to do their own in-depth research before deciding and making a final choice based on their needs and goals.

This is in no way a recommendation or guarantee of the final program design and syllabus on offer. Think of this as a menu card that helps you find the kind of course that appeals most to you. Needless to say, please do your own verification.

Some of the institutes include:

Coach For Life Institute – Peter J Reding

Erickson Coaching International – Gaurav Arora

Coach Transformation Academy

In addition to my crowd sourcing effort another handy resource on offer is the International Coaching Federating website, Educations Search Services (ESS) section. The ICF ESS search for in-person programs delivered in India, in English, listed the following 24 programs on offer. The list expands to 29 programs when one searches for combination of virtual and in-person and the only virtual list has 22 on offer.

Download the list below. If you would like to be added to the list drop us an email at coachups@gmail.com
